On Wednesday, I had my fall photo shoot. Ironically, it felt very fall-like in LA as we were having torrential downpours and it was very chilly. We don’t often have rain and everyone loves pulling out their warm sweaters, jackets and wellies. The only challenge is that no one knows how to drive in bad weather so traffic was terrible.
My inspiration for pre-fall was Lou Doillon. Like so many French women, she possesses an amazing and effortless beauty. She is sexy without trying and I feel as if every photo I see of her has a story. Her mother was Jane Birken and Lou possesses the same messy sexiness Jane did.
I have always thought my very chic friend, Kelly Atterton, looks exactly like her. Kelly and I met while working for Allure magazine and now she is the West Coast editor. She also is a great beauty and always looks chic with out trying.
We searched high and low and found a beautiful LA model, Theresa, who I felt had the same essence as Lou and Kelly. She started modeling less than a year ago and I think she will go far!
After being so focused on designing individual pieces in a collection, it is amazing to see everything come together. The styles in my fall collection are sophisticated with a slightly sexy twist.
One of the key themes is texture.
For this shoot, we went back into a studio. As much as I love the details when we shoot on location, I love the structure of a studio. I worked with an amazing team and I can’t thank them enough for making the day go smoothly.
