As I headed to New York for pre-fall market last week, I was mostly excited and a little bit nervous. I believed that my latest collection was one of the best that I’ve designed but meeting with buyers is always little nerve wracking.
One of the biggest challenges is how to present our designs to the buyers. I love all of the texture and color in this collection and wanted to make sure that buyers could really see and experience it.
Haney Pre-fall Collection
Whenever I tell people that I’m headed to New York for market, they often have a romantic vision of what I will be doing. Most of them think about the stunning fashion shows during fashion week and the fun parties. The reality is that I spend most of my time working in 1 room. I don’t think I left the apartment where we were showing for more than 30 minutes. But at least it has a great view!

As always, one of the high points of the week was seeing Holly Russell from Net-A-Porter. Not only do we have an amazing working relationship, she is also a friend. One of Haney’s best selling dresses, the Holly, is named for her.

I had an incredible trip but was happy to head home and made it back just in time to see my sons second grade Irish dance performance. I love my job but nothing is more important than my husband and our babies!
