As I am heading out for my Thanksgiving celebration, I thought it would be a great time to talk about my family traditions as well as those of the Haney team. Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays because it revolves around spending time together as a family without the added pressure of gifts.
Every thanksgiving I head to “Cherry Point Farm”, a 280 acres farm in Cambridge, Maryland. My twin sister and brother bought it a few years ago and its the perfect place for my city kids to spend Thanksgiving. They run and explore and have the time of their lives with their cousins.
Lindsey Mortensen, my senior designer and head of production, works closely with me designing and producing each of our collections. She helps me with every step in the process as we bring a new collection to fruition.
Her Thanksgiving revolves around the food that they prepare especially her mom’s wild rice casserole with mushrooms. It is Lindsey’s favorite. We may need to have her mom bring it in for all of us to try. Here is the recipe:
Currie Keller is my CFO and helps with social media. She makes sure that we stay within our budget and that we are visible on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest. Her Thanksgiving revolves around spending time with her family and most importantly for her children, spending time with their cousins. Charlie and Will have cousins in Northern California and Pittsburgh. When they all get together, there is usually a big football game.
Summer Brock, my Sales Assistant, is the newest member of our team. Right now, she is working with all of us to learn our business. She has been an amazing addition to my team. On Thanksgiving, Summer goes around the table in a circle and each person talks about what they are thankful for and their goals for the coming year.
I hope that you all have a very happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!
